The Prelude Ambassadors

Please join Prelude's select chamber ensemble, the
Prelude Ambassadors, for an evening of mixed chamber music and solo performances. Featuring four violinists and a harpist, these young musicians combine in different ways to bring you music ranging from the best of the classical tradition to the exciting energy and passion of a gypsy Csardas. This program features interaction with the audience and will culminate with a question and answer session directed by Prelude's conductor and the Ambassadors themselves. Take advantage of this great opportunity to expose young, inquiring musical minds to high quality music in an informal, friendly environment.

For two special performances, Prelude will set the mood for the Encore Stage and Studio children’s theater production of The Magical Lamp of Aladdin by providing live music before the play. In this thrilling tale, the adventurous Aladdin crosses paths with the evil magician Jammal and his wicked sister Halima. Only with the help of his clever monkey, Alakazam, the crafty Princess Jasmine and, not one, but three comical genies can Aladdin prevent his magic lamp from falling into the wrong hands.

Audiences will be treated to light-hearted and familiar selections ranging from themes from Disney's animated film Aladdin, to the catchy Bugler's Holiday featuring three of Prelude's own young musicians. As always, Prelude seeks to educate audiences about the musical process in an informative, entertaining environment, so be prepared for a skills demonstration which just might have you thinking about musical performance in a brand new way.

Welcome to Prelude

Prelude is an Arlington-based string orchestra program for talented young musicians interested in performing challenging repertoire and building their orchestral skills. Now in our third season, we offer a string orchestra for intermediate players in Grades 5-10. Players audition in June for the coming school year.

Occasionally, we accept players mid-season to meet the needs of the orchestra. To explore space availability, please use our online application to request an audition.
